Hero Home Recipients

Meet our 2012 Hero Home Recipient

U.S. Marine Corps Lance Corporal Richie Chavez is the recipient of the fourth Hero Home, to be built in Lexington Plantation in Cameron, N.C.

While a member of the 1/8 Weapons Company, 2 D Marine Division that was out of Camp Lejeune, LCPL Chavez was injured by an IED on November 29, 2010 while serving in Afghanistan.

Since the time of the incident, he has been active in the Wounded Warrior Battalion-East, an organization dedicated to helping wounded, injured and ill Marines and their families throughout the recovery and transition process. As a double amputee above the knee, Chavez will soon live with his family in the Lexington Plantation development. His new home will include features designed to give him easy accessibility to all rooms. Construction is scheduled to begin in August, with completion of the home projected for early December.
